Frequently Asked Questions

a WHY EXERCISING IS IMPORTANT

Attending regular Parkinson’s specific exercise programs is crucial for managing symptoms like stiffness, tremors and impaired balance and promoting overall well being. These tailored exercises not only enhance motor skills but also slow symptom progression, offering a proactive approach to maintaining physical function and promoting brain health. Beyond fitness, consistent participation fosters a supportive community, positively impacting mood, cognition, and daily life. Embracing these programs isn’t just about routine; it’s about gaining control and a better quality of life while living with Parkinson’s.

a Which class is suitable for me?

Based on your initial consultation and assessment, we will advise you on which class we think would be most suitable for you. Remember we tailor your exercise experience around your individual needs so you will always receive a program that is just right for you whether you join a class or choose to have one-on-one sessions.

a I have an Aged Care package. Can I use my package funds to pay for my services?

Yes. We have service provider agreements with almost all of the Service Providers here on the Sunshine Coast. You will need to notify your Case Manager that you would like to attend our classes or allied health services to ensure they allocate funds for your consultations in your budget.

a Can I use my EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) referral from my GP at your Centre?

Yes, you can receive an EPC Medicare rebate for any individual sessions that you have with any of our therapists in a one-on-one session as long as you have a current EPC referral from your GP. Medicare rebates are not available if you attend a group class.

a Can I use my EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) referral from my GP for the classes?

No, an EPC Medicare rebate cannot be claimed against the cost of an exercise class but it can be used if you are having a one-on-one session with your therapist

a I have health insurance. Will that cover the cost of my classes?

This depends on the type and level of cover that you have. We advise that you check with your health insurance provider to see if you have cover for these services. Ask them if you have cover for EP502 or PT560 or PT582  item codes.
